The visual appearance of Finnish landscapes and their continuous changes offer an interesting possibility to be examined and discussed in schools. The topic is closely related to the subjects of geography, history, biology, and social studies. As a visual phenomenon, it can also be covered in arts classes.
Below you can download a few landscape-oriented exercises, which were primarily developed for junior high school- or high school students. Everyone else interested in this topic is also free to try them. All tasks are based on the photographic material collected in the Visual monitoring of the Finnish landscapes –project.
Each exercise includes a separate PDF file for
a) the assignment and guidelines for the exercise, and
b) the photographs related to the task.
The PDF documents can be either printed out and distributed to the students, or alternatively shown with a projector for the whole class at the same time. A normal computer screen is sufficient for self-oriented learning.
